Velocity point-measurements
From Atomix
Welcome to the velocity point-measurements subgroup!
This subgroup addresses best practices in obtaining [Turbulent kinetic energy dissipation] rate estimates from time series of velocities measured at a point in space. The best practices will address largely how temporal measurements are converted into spectral observations in the wavenumber (space) domain. Typically, these spectra are fitted over the inertial subrange.
Our recommendations are applicable for measurements from probes attached to e.g., conventional gravity-driven vertical profilers, gliders, AUVs or autonomous self-propelled floats.
