Summary

Example velocities from ADV but with a smoothed signal to illustrate how filter-based despiking techniques operate. The smoothing shown applies a nonlinear median filter, i.e., a moving median calculated over 5 samples. The median filter is less biased by the spikes than linear filters or running averages.
