Open frames can oscillate a lot, spherical buoys are better, but a streamlined buoy should be best. Oscillations over the period of the burst result in the background flow seen by a beam varying over the burst, potentially introducing a bias if the background flow is sheared. |

- I think the environmental conditions, i.e. the scales of turbulence and their time/length scales are important. The epsilon, and the inertial subrange dictate how big your r can be, and also the sampling rate/duration of bursts. CynthiaBluteau (talk) 01:15, 11 November 2021 (CET)
- I agree with Cynthia. I'm transferring Brian's comments here for now, we can build out those pages between now and Warnemund. I also addressed JMM's comment about defining AHRS Yuengdjern (talk) 14:54, 15 November 2021 (CET)

Brian scannell (talk) 12:18, 10 December 2021 (CET) Under motion control, I suggest including a comment about mounting the ADCP in a streamlined buoy or frame designed to maintain steady orientation to the flow. Open frames can oscillate a lot, spherical buoys are better, but a streamlined buoy should be best. Oscillations over the period of the burst result in the background flow seen by a beam varying over the burst, potentially introducing a bias if the background flow is sheared.
