This page provides an overview of the NetCDF format of benchmark dataset for instruments that measure velocity profiles e.g., acoustic-Doppler current profilers from diverse suppliers and models.

Benchmark datasets: Velocity profilers

ATOMIX provides several benchmark datasets consisting of four processing levels.

  1. Raw timeseries
    • full resolution raw measurements in physical units, including ancillary parameters used to quality-control observations (e.g., amplitudes and correlations). Note: instrument-specific binary data is not included.
  2. Quality-controlled timeseries
    • full resolution cleaned measurements from level 1
  3. Structure function
    • calculated structure function parameters
  4. Dissipation [math]\displaystyle{ \varepsilon }[/math] estimates
    • dissipation estimates and corresponding quality control parameter as time series
